| STILL NOT A BITCH. |
[Jun. 16th, 2009|09:12 pm] |
I'm not a bitch!! Really! I'm not!
Look, if I were a bitch, I'd be making incredibly bitchy posts. And I obviously don't do that because if this were a bitchy post, it would be not only open (it's an open post) but posted to get a response, and it isn't! So I'm not! I'm just pointing out for those evil people who still call me a bitch. Not that I care what they think. Since I'm not writing this for them.
SOME PEOPLE may call me a bitch, but they have NO IDEA, given that they weren't around during the reign of true bitches circa 2003-2005. So. THOSE are bitches. I am not.
Look! This is me:

And this is Them:

Obviously those people calling me a bitch are just jealous. Of what, I'm not sure, but jealousy is a much easier explanation than actually taking my head out of my LJ-supported echo chamber long enough to contact reality. Reality sux.
AND NO I AM NOT PROTESTING TOO MUCH. SHUT UP.
Thank you for listening to my non-obsessiveness. |

| Excerpts from fangurl letters to Walt Whitman |
[May. 28th, 2009|11:50 pm] |
Letter to Whitman from Susan Garnet Smith, 1860:
Know Walt Whiman that I am a woman! I am not beautiful, but I love you! ...Know Walt Whiman that thou has a child for me! A noble beautiful perfect manchild. I charge you my love not to give it to another woman. The world demands it! It is not for you and me, is our child, but for the world. My womb is clean and pure. It is ready for thy child my love. Angels guard the vestibule until thou comest to deposit our and the world's precious treasure... Not in lust, not in mere gratification of sensual passion but in holy ennobling pure strong deep glorious passionate broad universal love... I love you, I love you, come, come. Or Anne Gilchrist from 1870, on reading Leaves of Grass: ...O, the voice of my Mate; it must be so - my love rises up out of the very depths of the grief and tramples upon despair... did you not see as through a transparent veil a soul all radiant and trembling with love stretching out its arms towards you?"
I guess non-crazeh fans of Randy's work can be grateful most of the panting about him is under locked posts he'll never see. OTOH, who knows what tAB gets in the mail?
Gilchrist was a very interesting figure; she was actually in love with her idea of LoG and the persona Whitman presents there, and not the man himself (Whitman wrote her a letter saying as much); so when she actually met Whitman years after all this crazy fangurling went on across the pond (she wrote him from England and was broken-hearted when he didn't respond quickly and in kind), the passionate crazeh disappeared, quite abruptly. She was a brilliant woman, a member of English literary circles. It's probably that sensibility that allowed her to develop an actual friendship with Whitman after she moved from England to America to be near Whitman, sight unseen. It's nice to know intelligence wins out. Eventually.
Please note, this post is open. |

Hi, flist! Does anyone have the Pdf+ app for iPhone to upload pdf files into the app folder for handy reading.
IT'S NOT UPLOADING ANYTHING AND I'M SO DAMN FRUSTRATED.
Anyone know how to use this thing? I just sent an email to the support, but considering its completely USELESS MANUAL starts by telling me to "Start Pdf+ by tapping it's icon", I'm not terribly hopeful that these brainiacs are going to translate their internetspeak to English. |

| Walt Whitman |
[May. 4th, 2009|07:27 pm] |
I'm actually enjoying the Whitman research more than I expected. While I'm still not a fan (more on that in a sec), I appreciate the power of the work.
But turns out Whitman had a crazy fan base! One part of it were called "Whitmaniacs" and actually founded a religion around him; they thought he revealed "sacred revelation."
One Whitman fangurl, Anne Gilchrist, "declared love for Whitman and, sight unseen, moved to America to be near him."
Well. THAT'S interesting. Anne DID know Whitman wouldn't want to fuck her, right? /snerk

| Um, what? |
[Apr. 10th, 2009|11:31 pm] |
So Woody Harrelson assaulted a photographer at LaGuardia. From CNN, Woody explains himself:
"I wrapped a movie called 'Zombieland,' in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character," Harrelson said in a statement issued Friday by his publicist.
"With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie," he said.
*nods* Quite. |
